The Police Are Moving!

Our temporary neighbors are getting their own space!
The Library and police have shared the city-owned building since 2010. The police were supposed to get a different building by 2015. That’s finally happening! The PD is planning to move sometime this summer.

Where are the police going?
Just up the hill on Hanley Street.  

Is the Library taking over the police space?
That is the plan. We have a unique opportunity to renovate with the PD move planned for this summer.

Are there other proposed uses for the building? 
No. The Hudson City Council voted to make the building the permanent home of the Library.

What will go into the current kids’ area?
Library leaders, architects, and community members are developing options.

When will the new kids’ area be ready? 
That depends on a lot of factors! Right now, we are still in the preparation phase of fundraising. Based on current estimations, construction could start in 2028.

How will this project be funded?
The renovation and proposed expansion will be entirely donor-funded. We’ll let you know when the fundraising campaign kicks off!
