Population 485 at the Phipps. After a 12-year absence, a prodigal son returns to his hometown. Joining the volunteer fire department leads him on a journey into the shared lives of his neighbors. Based on the New York Times bestseller, it captures the comic and sometimes heartbreaking true stories of New Auburn, Wisconsin, population: 485. The play will be performed at the Phipps Center for the Arts September 13-29 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time: An Evening With Michael Perry. Humorist, New York Times bestselling author, rural EMT/firefighter Michael Perry provides a hilarious and heartfelt look behind the scenes of his book and play ‘Population 485’. There will be an author talk, Q & A plus a book signing at the Phipps on Thursday, September 19 from 7:00-9:00pm. This is a free event, but we do request that you RSVP so we know how many people to expect.
