We’ve rallied hundreds of young readers into the library’s summer reading program, and now it’s time to celebrate.
In partnership with the city police department, the library is joining the National Night Out event and featuring Fantasy Corral, a traveling petting zoo featuring baby animals. The petting zoo is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Lakefront Park.
In partnership with the city parks department, the library is featuring a two-act musical event perfect for families: the Teddy Bear Band and Sons of the Beach. The show is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Lakefront Park Bandshell.
The library has featured free performers every Tuesday afternoon all summer as part of the Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program. The performances were funded by the Hudson Area Public Library Foundation, but we were able to enhance the last two events by partnering with the police and parks departments.
National Night Out is a campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The event features free-will offering dinner, live music, live demonstrations, and many other family fun activities.
We’re also thrilled to be part of the band selection process for the summer concert series. The Teddy Bear Band is a children’s favorite! After the kids show, band members take a short break and turn into Sons of the Beach and play parents’ favorite beach tunes. This band is well known for their other name–Rich & the Resistors, which is the Minnesota Vikings house band.
Pack your lawn chairs, picnic blankets and food. We’ll see you there!
