They’re only 18-inches tall, but they’re the biggest craze in girls’ toys. American Girl Dolls top Christmas lists, birthday wishes and the priorities of girls who save their allowances.
At the Hudson Area Library, we’re launching a five-session American Girl Doll club this fall for fans. Girls don’t have to own an official American Girl Doll to participate. They can be fans of any doll or even stuffed animals. Everyone is welcome.
Our program begins in October and runs through February. Girls sign up once for the entire program. The schedule:
Tuesday, October 2, 6-7pm.: We’ll make cute no-sew clothes for dolls. Club members will get a new copy of “Tenney Shares the Stage.”
Tuesday, November 20, 6-7pm. We’ll have a book club and talk about “Tenney Shares the Stage.” The session will include an activity and themed snack.
Tuesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 6, 6-7pm. We’ll have a cooking program where we’ll make food from three of the dolls’ stories: Kia, Rebecca and Josefina.
Tuesday, Jan. 8, 6-7:30pm.We’ll make doll furniture. All supplies will be provided.
Saturday, Feb. 9, 10am-12:30pm. We’ll make a snack in the kitchen and then watch an American Girl Doll movie.
